- Richard Lewis | June 1947-February 2024 | Digital Gravestones
In Loving Memory Of: Richard Lewis June 1947 - February 2024 76 Years Old American actor most remembered for starring in Curb Your Enthusiasm Your memorial? Click here to edit... Share this Memorial with Friends & Family: Share Memorial on FB Biography: Richard Philip Lewis (June 29, 1947 – February 28, 2024) was an American stand-up comedian, actor, and writer. Lewis came to prominence in the 1980s and became known for his dark, neurotic, and self-deprecating humor. As an actor, he was known for having co-starred with Jamie Lee Curtis in the sitcom Anything but Love, for playing the role of Prince John in the film Robin Hood: Men in Tights, and for his recurring role as a semi-fictionalized version of himself in HBO's Curb Your Enthusiasm. Lewis first tried stand-up at an open-mike in Greenwich Village in 1971.[6] He began writing and regularly performing stand-up comedy in 1972, while working as a copywriter for an advertising agency by day.[13] He was discovered by comedian David Brenner while performing in Greenwich Village. Brenner helped Lewis's career by introducing him to the comedy clubs in Los Angeles and getting Lewis his first appearance on The Tonight Show.[13] By the mid-1970s, Lewis had appeared on The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson[14] and publications, such as the New York Daily News and New York Magazine, were naming him one of the "new breed" or "class" of comedians; This list containing names such as Robert Klein, Lily Tomlin, Richard Pryor, George Carlin, Andy Kaufman, Richard Belzer, and Elayne Boosler.[15][16] His influences were Richard Pryor, Buster Keaton, Woody Allen, and Lenny Bruce.[17] Lewis was known for dark comedy, self-deprecation, and for frank discussions regarding his many neuroses, as well as his struggles with alcoholism and drug addiction.[18] He was noted for wearing all-black attire and for pacing and gesticulating wildly during his stand-up act.[18][19][20][21] In his early days, he was also known for bringing taped-together sheets from a legal pad to his performances; he would lay them across the floor in front of him to remind him of joke premises and topics he wished to cover during his performance.[18] Lewis made his screen acting debut in Diary of a Young Comic, a 90-minute film that aired on NBC in 1979 in the timeslot normally reserved for episodes of Saturday Night Live.[22] A satirical look at the Hollywood scene, Lewis stars in the film as Billy Gondola (born Gondolstein), a young Jewish comedian who leaves New York City to find fame in Los Angeles.[22][23] The film's script was co-written by Lewis and Bennett Tramer, and was adapted from a story written by Gary Weis, who also served as the film's director.[22][23] The film features Bill Macy as Billy's father, Michael Lerner as his agent, and Stacy Keach as a landlord.[23] Performers George Jessel, Dom DeLuise, Nina van Pallandt, and Gary Mule Deer make appearances in the film as themselves.[23] Lewis gained much wider exposure in the 1980s and 1990s with numerous appearances on talk shows such as The Tonight Show,[14] both Late Night and the Late Show with David Letterman,[13][19] and The Howard Stern Show.[20] He also produced the comedy special I'm in Pain, which aired on Showtime in 1985,[24] followed by the specials I'm Exhausted, I'm Doomed, and Richard Lewis: The Magical Misery Tour, all of which aired on HBO in 1988, 1990, and 1997 respectively.[20][25] From 1989 to 1992, he co-starred with Jamie Lee Curtis on the sitcom Anything but Love.[19] He also starred on the short-lived sitcoms Daddy Dearest with Don Rickles in 1993, and Hiller and Diller with Kevin Nealon in 1998.[19] He played Prince John in the 1993 film Robin Hood: Men in Tights,[26] and starred as a struggling alcoholic and drug addict in the 1995 drama film Drunks. The latter film featured performances from Faye Dunaway, George Martin, Parker Posey, Howard Rollins, Spalding Gray, and Dianne Wiest, and was based on Gary Lennon's play Blackout.[27] Lewis also appeared in the 1995 drama film Leaving Las Vegas, and the 1997 romantic comedy Hugo Pool.[20][28] Into the 2000s, Lewis had recurring roles as a B movie producer on the sitcom Rude Awakening,[29] and as Rabbi Richard Glass on the family drama series 7th Heaven.[20] He also had a recurring role on the sitcom Curb Your Enthusiasm as a semi-autobiographical version of himself.[26] Lewis first met the show's star and creator, Larry David, at summer camp in Cornwall-on-Hudson, New York, when they were 12 years old – the former claimed that at the time, they hated each other.[20] The two comedians also happened to be born three days apart in the same hospital.[3] The pair met again over a decade later while performing stand-up in New York and became friends.[20] Gallery: Listen To Their Voice: Richard Lewis 00:00 / 00:27 Location Of Memorial: Not publicly known Memorial Created By: Anonymous

Share this Memorial with Friends & Family: Share Memorial on FB Biography: Alexei Anatolyevich Navalny[c] (Russian: Алексей Анатольевич Навальный, IPA: 4 June 1976 – 16 February 2024) was a Russian opposition leader,[2][4] lawyer, anti-corruption activist, and political prisoner. He organised anti-government demonstrations and ran for office to advocate reforms against corruption in Russia and against President Vladimir Putin and his government.[5] Navalny was a Russian Opposition Coordination Council member, the leader of the Russia of the Future party and founder of the Anti-Corruption Foundation (FBK).[6] He was recognised by Amnesty International as a prisoner of conscience, and was awarded the Sakharov Prize for his work on human rights. Navalny was married to Yulia Abrosimova and had two children, daughter Darya (Dasha) Navalnaya, who began undergraduate studies at Stanford University in September 2019, and son Zakhar.[497] Starting 1998, he lived primarily in a three-room apartment in Maryino District in southeast Moscow.[498] Navalny was originally an atheist, but later became a member of the Russian Orthodox Church. He has said that turning to the Orthodox church has made him feel a "part of something large and universal."[499] On 17 January 2021, Navalny was again arrested as he was returning to Russia, after having had to leave the country for medical treatment in Germany for a poisoning attempt against his life that had recently occurred in Russia.[235] He remained incarcerated (initially in the IK-2 penal colony) and was housed in the IK-6 maximum security prison in Melekhovo, Vladimir Oblast.[500][501][349] Navalny was listed by Amnesty International (AI) as a prisoner of conscience in May 2021, meaning that AI held that Navalny's incarceration was primarily due to his political beliefs.[502] In addition to his native Russian, Navalny also spoke English.[503][50 Gallery: Listen To Their Voice: Alexei Navalny 00:00 / 00:27 Location Of Memorial: Not publicly known Memorial Created By: Anonymous

- Stuart Gray | December 1973-January 2024 | Digital Gravestones
In Loving Memory Of: Stuart Gray December 1973 - January 2024 50 Years Old Former Celtic and Reading full-back. Your memorial? Click here to edit... Share this Memorial with Friends & Family: Share Memorial on FB Biography: Stuart Edward Gray (18 December 1973 – January 2024) was an English-born Scottish footballer. He played as a full-back for Celtic and Reading. Born in England, he won seven Scotland under-21 international caps. He hailed from a footballing family; his father Eddie, uncle Frank and cousin Andy all represented Scotland. Gray was signed to Celtic as a schoolboy S-former in 1989 and followed the route of many on to the groundstaff at 16 in 1990. He played youth and reserve team football, and was released to play for Giffnock Park North AFC. He ended the 1991–92 season close to a first team call up and won a new two-year contract. The next season marked his debut with one appearance against Aberdeen in 1992–93 but a groin strain in October curtailed his 1992–93 season. In the 1993–94 season he asked for a loan move south of the border. He spent some time on loan with AFC Bournemouth in February before returning to more reserve team action. At the end of the season he went to Canada on the post-season tournament with the senior team. Out of contract at the start of the 1994–95 season, he was wanted by Sunderland and Blackburn Rovers and signing month-to-month deals. He eventually signed a new deal on 27 January 1995 with the stated intention of leaving if he did not get more first-team football. He had a reasonable run of games and was on the verge of the full-time first-team inclusion.[citation needed] In the 1995–96 season, he won starting appearances in the latter part of the season but an ankle ligament injury proved troubling and curtailed full involvement. The 1996–97 season was troubled by a knee injury, and he ended playing most of the season with the reserves. Out of contract again, his future looked uncertain. A deal to take him to Lille fell through in the close season and he began the 1997–98 season on month-to-month deals. In October he was loaned to Greenock Morton until January 1998, being recalled from Greenock to play against them in the Scottish Cup tie on 24 January. He played a few more reserve games before being sold to Tommy Burns at Reading on 26 March 1998. Gray was loaned to Rushden & Diamonds and joined them full-time in January 2001 and released at the end of the 2004–05 season. He joined Oxford United making 10 appearances with them. He was thereafter associated with non-league side Guiseley and he coached[when?] the reserve team there, along with Vince Brockie.
